New Empathy for Michelle

Damon Winter/The New York Times

Can you imagine being married to a man who thinks he's the King of the world?

Who believes he's handsome and smart and clever and popular?

Who's assured of his own athletic prowess and obviously texts all the coolest people?

Insists others scrimp, but lives extravagantly himself?

Who can gripe and grumble and sneer and swear, but if someone's watching, a calm smile magically appears.

Oh, and when he says things, it's not HIS crediblity on the line. It's the credibility of the International Community, or America, or Congress or something.

Because, let me be clear, NOTHING is EVER his fault, and he NEVER is wrong.

Can you imagine?

I can.

Insufferable.

  1. Please oh please don't make me sympathetic for Michelle! After all, she made the bed she's sleeping in...

Speaking of acting like he thinks he's a king, I've got a rule concerning "Executive Orders", and I plan on elaborating on this sometime soon:

If you don't have authority over something, then you don't have the authority to give yourself authority over it.

This isn't simply a matter of paperwork, and we're sick of Obama pretending otherwise, much less getting away with it.

    1. Yep, I'm sure they deserve each other -- A lid for every jar; a tempting, judgmental Eve for every falling, prideful Adam.

  2. Amen, sister.

Sometimes, in my more human moments, I feel a little empathy for Michelle.

Then she opens her mouth and says something arrogant and imperious, and the feeling goes away.

Still, it would have to be a real soul-suck to be nuptially bound to such a thick-skulled clod.

  3. I strongly suspect she believes all the hype about him and enjoys basking in the glow of his halo.
