If It Ain’t Baroque

A piece has again been making the rounds that contrasts the United States’ vast accomplishments during the years of its involvement in World War II, to the current administration’s inability to build a properly functioning healthcare website in a similar amount of time.

The video below highlights the production of an item that is literally much smaller in scale, but the design, construction, and impeccable craftsmanship of the intricate precision device should serve as a reminder of how much can be accomplished in a few years by a relatively small group of dedicated professionals — as opposed to the fruits of legions of ham-fisted minions in a bloated bureaucracy, armed with “good intentions” and billions of dollars of other people’s money.

The Grandmaster Chime (which would be a great DJ handle), limited to an edition of seven, costs $2.5 million — or about $1 for every job America is expected to lose due to Obamacare over the next decade.

The total cost of the Obamacare website so far is about the same as 840 of these watches.

If the administration were to make a trade, it would probably decide to melt the watches down to cast participation medals as rewards for government efficiency.
