Scandal in Rome!

I heard a montage of liberal idiots on the radio today, decrying, and apparently stunned, STUNNED I TELL YOU!!! by, the fact that the new Pope is unlikely to advance the progressive agenda. I have helpfully supplied a few headlines for them:

  • Shocking Answer To Long Asked Question: Is the Pope Catholic? YES!!!
  • Man Who Considers Homosexuality a Sin Unlikely to Advance Gay Marriage!
  • Stunning Revelation: New Pope Espouses Traditional Catholic Values!
  • Who'da Thunk It? New Pontiff Pro-Life on Abortion Question!
  • Conservative New Pope Espouses Conservative Christian Values!
  • New Pope Unlike to Advance Progressive Ideals,
Seriously, do the media really believe that the purpose of the Church is to advance The Progressive Cause du Jour, rather than maintain the eternal beliefs that the Church believes in? What a bunch if excrement-melons.

Right after the montage, there was a gentleman who said something that was at once both obvious and profound. I'm paraphrasing here, but he said that we are not supposed to change our religion to suit our lifestyle, but rather our lifestyle to suit our religion. Much easier to say than to do.

Full Disclosure: I grew up in the Catholic Church, and have lapsed. I don't always agree with them, but I will stand with them when I believe they are on the right side of the argument, and support their right to believe the teachings of the church when I don't agree.

  1. Can you imagine if Pope Francis and Obama were in cahoots? Have you SEEN The Three Musketeers? Scary.

    1. Unfortunately, a lot of Catholics tend toward the big government solutions, so it's not entirely unlikely that Pope Francis (or Pope Psycho, as I call him) would go along with a lot of the fiscal agenda of Obama. It's the social agenda where there would be a whole lot of conflict.

  2. Were you listening to Rush Limbaugh the other day, too? I heard that man, as well, and I thought what he said was brilliant. He also said that too many people have politics and religion completely turned around. Instead of having faith in your religion and questioning your government, people are doing the exact opposite (I'm paraphrasing, too, but I believe that's about right). The Catholic church shouldn't change their values just because liberals think they should. Is anyone asking the Muslims to change their belief system to suit the liberal agenda? If you don't agree with the Catholic church, don't be Catholic-simple as that. But don't try to force them to go against their belief system (um, like trying to make Catholic institutions pay for abortions and birth control!) Actually, that logic works with so many things. For instance, if you don't like guns, don't own them. But don't try to take away the right of responsible, law abiding citizens to own them if they choose. Sorry- had to get that in! :)

    1. I figured you were listening to it. You were likely driving up Portage Trail toward Route 8 when he said it, because I was sitting at Graham and State. Yeah, that guy was brilliant in his argument. I wish I had the audio to link. Perhaps I should look for it when I get a chance.

      MMMMMM Otani!

    2. That's one of the problems with society today. People have lost their faith in God and have replaced it with faith in government, and that is a faith that will never endure or come to fruition. Man cannot create heaven on earth no matter how much they wish to or how good their intentions.

    3. Well stated. I truly believe that progressivism is a religion, and that it being forced upon us by the clerics of secularism.

I have even developed a Holy Trinity of Progressivism, a Father (FDR), a Son (HRH Barry-O), and a Holy Ghost (Woodrow Wilson). If you out your faith in Man, you cannot help but be disappointed.
