Overall, it is pretty constant...except for the peaks near the beginning of each of the President's terms. Those were times of campaign speeches followed by oaths of office. At those moments, I guess he appeared the most "presidential".
Springeraz delineated beautifully what it means to be a true leader in his brilliant Leadership, And What's Missing. For some reason I don't really understand, our president chooses NOT to be a leader...
yet a huge percentage of Americans think he's doing a good job.
As I looked at these numbers, it reminded me of a line in a movie I saw many years ago:
"People want leadership, Mr. President, and in the absence of genuine leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand."
