Can We Have A Minute Of Silence

It was announced this morning that Hostess is going to have to liquidate, displacing 18,000 workers.  I don't even know how to make this funny?  18,000 workers are now going to lose their jobs because 6,600 union members didn't want to take an 8 % pay cut.

You can look at this and say that this wasn't the first time, or that these union workers have given a couple of times and where does it stop?  well, right here.  It stops right here now that they all need to look for new employment.

There is plenty of blame to go around,  Most of the time management says things like "if you don't go back to work we're going to bring in scabs".  That's fine.  In 1995 the production staff at the two major news papers by me went on strike.  That took 3 years to settle.  3 years.  shortly after the strike scabs were brought in and a bunch of the members crossed the picket line.  The reason was they all knew either they were wrong or what was best for them.

This is something the former Hostess employee's will know for sure now.

If we can just have a minute of silence for Twinkies... that would be great.

*Bows head, says prayer*

Thank you.

  1. If it makes you feel any better WD, the Twinkie brand will most likely be sold as a part of the bankruptcy deal, and some other company will make them. Maybe Nabisco or Sunbeam or something.
