Grammar Hammer has Competition

You guys know how we feel about good grammar and spelling here at NP.

We're all incredibly articulate, well-educated people so language accuracy is a given.

Celebrities don't seem to share our interest in being precise.

Is it wrong that I enjoyed watching them being put in their place? :)

    1. We could put all of "them" into one huge grammar hating "place". Geez. :)

  2. I do believe that English teachers here in America need to start doing this with their students. Just because one cannot speak or write perfectly, does not mean that we need to throw out all rules of grammar and spelling. Command of the language allows for clearer communication. I could see why commielibs wouldn't want that: Billy Jeff Clinton would not be able to get away with statements such as, "It depends on what the meaning of 'is' is."

    1. In my tenth grade English class, we were required to find ten grammar/spelling mistakes made in print or on TV. This was pre-internet or texting, so it was quite a difficult task. These days, I could find ten mistakes in less than 5 minutes. :)
