Free trade, even at our own expense is a good thing. There is an old saying I like to refer to
when I have a situation to bring it up like I am just now. “A rising tide lifts all boats”. In my fathers generation, and my fathers
fathers generation they had a simple slogan also. “Look for the union label”. It’s getting harder and harder to find these
days.
It’s really unfortunate that I have to paint union people
with a broad brush because I know a lot of them, are/were in my family,
others are friends, and most are decent people.
It’s true, I have some real jerks in my family, but I’m not going to
name names. Ok just a few, just a few
names. Well there is my cousin Jack, he
is a real piece of work. Still owes me
$400. The guy makes almost 70 grand a
year and he can’t pay me back $400?
Unfortunately for Jack and some of my other family members,
their days may be numbered. China is not going away, India is not
going away. In a few years Africa will really start coming on line. We need to be smarter, not “work harder”. Well physically that is.
If I could get angry at conservatives for a minute here, I
hate the fact that we look at college as a liberal playground. So what if it is? We need to send our kids and ourselves
through college. Our son or daughter can
not be the next Steve Jobs or… what’s that Facebook guy’s name? Oh yea, Jesse Eisenberg. Anyway, our kids can’t be those guys without
higher education. I’m not saying they
need an education that costs you or them 30 grand a year, but they need to go.
If you think that 4 years of college is going to undo 18
years of your parenting, then you need to reevaluate your parenting. That’s not the University of Michigan ’s
fault, that’s yours.
The reason I bring all this up is because manufacturing is
dead, soon (hopefully) robots will build every thing, and I can have a cherry2000. However we will still need humans
to design those robots, and maintain those robots. These are not entry level jobs.
SO GET ON THAT EVERYONE!
I WANT MY CHERRY 2000! oh yeah, and make them water proof. my dishes need to get done.
Shouldn't that sort of robot be sealed against fluids to begin with?
ReplyDeletethat's a very good point. If you saw the movie you would understand what I was talking about. She was destroyed by a dishwasher. sad sad day.
