My Fellow Hyphenated Americans

Democratic National Committee Chair Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has invited a Muslim-American donor doctor to be her guest at President Obama’s final State of the Union address. At the suggestion of Representative Keith Ellison, Schultz, along with her other pretentious-American colleagues have invited Muslims to the SOTU, in an apparent attempt to torture their guests by obligating them to attend the annual pinhead promenade.

At a news conference in Westin, Florida, the Jewish-American congresswoman said, “The rhetoric and vitriol that has been targeted at this community has been absolutely outrageous and unacceptable. And as a member of a minority religion myself, one that has faced persecution throughout our existence, to me the idea that we would stand idly by and ignore that and not stand up and use our voices to stand up for our brothers and sisters in the Muslim-American community was just unacceptable.”

Because, you know, hardly a month goes by that you don’t hear about Christian-Americans opening fire on their Muslim-American coworkers, or mosques being torched by... Never mind.

By the way, House Speaker Paul Ryan has invited a couple of Catholic-Americans to the address, who represent a group that has been demonstrably, deliberately oppressed by the current administration’s policies.

One question for Ms. Schultz:

Is the irony lost on you that in many countries where those whose religion you suggest is “persecuted” by U.S. citizens represent the majority of the population, by merely being seen together in public with your guest, both of your lives would be in jeopardy?
